【摘要】:Thispracticerecognizesthateffectiveness,safety,anddurabilityofinsulationdependnotonlyonthequalityoftheinsulatingmaterials,butalsoontheirproperinstallation.Improperinstallationofinsulationcanreduceitsthermaleffectiveness,causefirerisksandotherunsafeconditions,andpromotedeteriorationforthestructureinwhichitisinstalled.Specifichazardsthatcanresultfromimproperinstallationincludefirescausedby(1)heatbuild-upinrecessedlightingfixtures;(2)deteriorationorfailureofelectricalwiringcomponents;(3)heatbuild-upresultingfromovercurrentprotectiondevicesincorrectlymatchedtowiring;or(4)deteriorationinwoodstructuresandpaintfailureduetomoistureaccumulation.Thispracticeprovidesgeneralproceduresthatwillhelpensuretheinstallationofinsulationinasafeandeffectivemanner.Itmustbenotedthatactualconditionsinexistingbuildingsvarygreatly,andinsomecasessubstantialadditionalcareandprecautionmustbetakentoensureeffectiveandsafeinstallation.1.1Thispracticecoversproceduresfortheinstallationofcellulosicandmineralfiberloose-fillinsulationinceilings,attics,andfloorandwallcavitiesofneworexistinghousingandotherframedbuildings.1.2Thispracticeappliesonlytotheinstallationofdryloose-fillthermalinsulationconsistingofcellulosicmaterialsormineralfiberbypneumaticorpouringapplication.1.3Thispracticecoverstheinstallationprocessfrompre-installationinspectionthroughpost-installationprocedure.Itdoesnotcovertheproductionoftheinsulationmaterials.1.4Thispracticeisnotintendedtoreplacethemanufacturer''sinstallationinstructions,butshallbeusedinconjunctionwithsuchinstructions.Thispracticeisnotintendedtosupersedelocal,state,orfederalcodes.1.5Thispracticeassumesthattheinstallerpossessesagoodworkingknowledgeoftheapplicablecodesandregulations,safetypractices,tools,equipment,andmethodsnecessaryfortheinstallationofthermalinsulationmaterials.Italsoassumesthattheinstallerunderstandsthefundamentalsofresidentialconstructionthataffecttheinstallationofinsulation.1.6Thevaluesstatedininch-poundunitsaretoberegardedasstandard.ThevaluesgiveninparenthesesaremathematicalconversionstoSIunitsthatareprovidedforinformationonlyandarenotconsideredstandard.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.Forspecificprecautionarystatements,seeSection.
